Coming Up on 29th Edition: >> Talking points around Ecowas@40(1)

29th Edition:
Perspective Retrospective 2: Review of the Year 2014 – Health, & Tourism

We are reprising the issue of review in the 29th edition of AIF.

We will, once again, be speaking to people who can help us offer a retrospective of the year on some of the biggest stories AIF show covered. Apart from aviation, the second biggest was Tourism, and Ebola. But we also want to pitch the issue of Ebola against that of AIDS, which may have gone under-reported because of the very-existential threat of Ebola.

If you will recall, health, especially that of Ebola, was a major talking point on AIF as Radio XYZ blazed the trail back in August 2014 on regular weekly discussions of Ebola under Africa in Focus.
Join us if you can at 1pm on 20 January, 2015.

Guests in the studio:
Ø  Penelope Agbai , Communications Officer, West Africa Aids Foundation
Ø  Kobby Blay, EbolaWatch

"Dear friends,

Please find below a link to the podcast of the full edition of 13 January edition of "Africa in Focus".

We spoke to Kofi Akpabli about the book-reading he had earlier in the month. The main discussant was West Africa Bureau Chief of the Nigerian Television Authority Cordelia Ukwuoma who gave us brief insights into what we should expect to read and discuss in the sub-region in 2015 – apart from the elections.
Dominick Andoh gave us an insightful overview of Africa's aviation sector, including the fact that 2015 is likely to register positively for the aviation sector, what with the drop in oil. That said, the situation in Ghana will not find a drop in airfares immediately especially with airlines habitually making a profit after many years in operation – as compared to counterparts elsewhere, where the profits are made a lot earlier allowing them to therefore consider reducing airfares.
This edition also introduced the first-ever edition of "#ECOWAS@40Podcast", which you can download here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B32CLvfWC8j4U2pwTmstYmU3empwcTNVMUF3M096LXZ2U1NF/view?usp=sharing

PODCAST>>EPISODE #27: Understanding UNSCR1325 (peace & Security)

From E K:

"EPISODE #27
Research & Co-ordination: E.K.Bensah Jr
Executive Producer: E.K.Bensah Jr

"Dear friends,

In this last edition before Christmas festivities and the New Year, we dedicated this edition to discussing and reflecting over UNSCR1325. Even as we have a fair idea of what it signifies, it is a given that, the media is key in any kind of awareness-raising for which reason the WPSI of the KAIPTC organized a two-day Media Forum from 25-26 November. And for which reason AIF has set the pace by being the first programme on English-speaking private radio to concretely discuss UNSCR1325 in a way that has yet to be discussed.

Finally, spoke to Captain Victor Amoah, CEO of KAAF Holdings, who spoke to us about "Our Aviation Family Fiesta", which was premiered in 2013. It seeks to celebrate global aviation's birthday every year by collaborating with aviation stakeholders in Ghana and the African sub-region as a "family" to expose to the general public and the media the economic viability, immense achievements/initiatives and diverse careers of the aviation industry in Ghana and globally.

17 December 1903 is 111 years since the Wright Brothers invented and flew the first self-motorized aircraft.

Consequently, KAAF Holdings will celebrated the AVIATION 111 FAMILY FIESTA with the theme: **Celebrating Global Aviation's 111th birthday through pacesetting Initiatives & winning Partnerships**.
